Clear Lake-based accounting firm Overby Financial Services will open a third Wisconsin office in Amery this summer through a partnership with MRK Financial Solutions. The firms share a core philosophy that tax implications accompany nearly every financial decision, and therefore, clients receive better advice when accountants and wealth advisors collaborate on their behalf.
Certified public accountant Kyle Overby launched Overby Financial Services in Clear Lake, Wis. in 2003. After identifying clients’ need for local wealth management advice, in 2008 he became a registered representative of Avantax Investment ServicesSM – formerly HD Vest – obtaining the necessary certifications to deliver broader planning and retirement-related advice. In 2018, Overby acquired a tax practice to establish a location in St. Croix Falls, Wis. This same practice had partnered with MRK Financial Solutions to serve clients’ wealth management needs, and Overby is adopting that model in 2020. The shift allows him to collaborate with MRK for clients’ planning and investment needs while refocusing his business on accommodating a complex and ever-changing tax environment.

The Amery office, located at 741 Harriman Avenue South, is undergoing renovations through mid-summer 2020. Once complete, it will house members of the Overby Financial and MRK teams, and the firms will host a grand opening to introduce MRK advisors to the community. Founded by Mike Kobs in 1989, MRK Financial Solutions is headquartered in Plymouth, Minn. and maintains an office in St. Paul. Its team of more than 15 professionals includes specialists in financial planning, client service, qualified plans and business development. Overby and MRK been involved in the local chapter of Avantax Investment ServicesSM representatives.
